You can also enjoy yourself in the Walserstube, on the sun terrace, or with a fine glass of wine at the Walserbar. A heated ski storage room, elevator, and free parking (subject to availability) complete the amenities. Wi-Fi is free of charge. DAS SCHÄFER is intentionally a completely non-smoking hotel – designated smoking tables are located on the courtyard terrace.

Rooms

The 38 rooms and suites impress with their natural comfort and high-quality furnishings. Amenities include solid wood furniture, king-size beds (2.10m), a bathroom with bathtub or shower/WC, hairdryer, telephone, radio, flat-screen TV, safe, minibar, Wi-Fi, balcony, and a wellness bag with a complimentary bathrobe. Limed oak floorboards, local white fir wood, pure new wool, and harmonious natural tones create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The unique view across the valley and to the seven Walser mountain peaks is liberating and opens the mind and heart.

Meals

"Das Schäfer" Superior Full Board: Regional gourmet breakfast buffet with smoothies, fragrant bread, homemade jams, honeycomb, and genuine Walserstolz mountain cheese; afternoon snack from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (also on arrival day) with hearty snacks, fresh salad, and oven-fresh strudel; in the evening, a 6-course gourmet menu – Austrian, regional, fresh, light & healthy – including Vorarlberg cheese specialties as a finale. Vegetarian options are available at all meals (no vegan options).
The dishes are prepared primarily with sustainably produced, regional ingredients and herbs from the parish garden.

Winter fun

With a total of 109 kilometers of slopes, the Damüls-Mellau-Faschina ski area is one of the largest winter sports regions in Vorarlberg. The combination of sunny slopes and snow-sure north-facing runs ensures excellent conditions from December until the end of the season. Whether you're looking for leisurely descents, challenging runs, or your first turns on skis, this diverse ski area offers something for every skill level. Snowboarders and freeskiers will find ideal conditions in the snow park, while freeriders appreciate the varied powder slopes. Families will enjoy the thoughtfully designed children's areas and practice lifts. A special experience is the weekly night skiing in Faschina.
The Damüls-Mellau-Faschina ski area is just a few kilometers from the hotel. The free ski bus stop is only about 50 meters away. The cozy and manageable Sonntag-Stein ski area, with 7 kilometers of slopes and 2 lifts – ideal for leisurely skiers, beginners, and families – can be reached within a 5-minute drive.
Even away from the ski slopes, the region reveals its most beautiful side. More than 40 km of perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails and over 30 km of winter hiking trails invite you to actively explore the snow-covered mountain landscape. Snowshoeing, tobogganing, and other winter activities ensure varied and enjoyable holidays in the Großes Walsertal.

In the hotel's own Mountain Spa, a comprehensive wellness package awaits you across approximately 1,600 m² and two floors. Enjoy a year-round heated indoor and outdoor swimming pool with a whirlpool bench (approx. 32°C), a spacious sauna area with a Finnish sauna, hay flower sauna, and herbal steam bath, as well as the Mountain Spa reception with a fireplace and the Mountain Spa Bistro with a vitality bar. The 7-Walser-Summit-Seeking Terrace offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, and stylish relaxation areas with sheep's wool blankets invite you to unwind and recharge.
