Thanks to its optimal location on the Tauern Railway, Gastein is easily accessible by direct trains from Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Stuttgart, or Hamburg. Railjets and IC trains connect Europe's cities with the Gastein Valley several times a day. ÖBB offers a convenient transfer option to your accommodation with its "First/Last Mile Service," which can be combined with the Salzburg Guest Mobility Ticket. Simply book your ticket along with your train ticket by 8 p.m. the day before your arrival – and your shuttle will be waiting upon arrival at the station to transport you and your luggage stress-free to your hotel door (excluding Sparschiene tickets).

Winter fun

Beginners and professionals, skiers, boarders and carvers alike feel in their element on over 200 kilometres of slopes that take you up to 2,700 metres above sea level. Choose between the Stubnerkogel-Angertal-Schlossalm and Dorfgastein-Großarl ski links, which boast a permanent race track, the world-champion Graukogel with its long and difficult runs and the high-alpine Sportgastein. The optimal altitude and extensive snowmaking systems ensure snow from the end of November to the end of April. The Stubnerkogel-Angertal-Schlossalm ski area is the largest connected ski area in the Gastein Valley with 87 kilometres of slopes. The slopes are very varied - from family slopes to carving runs and freerides to mogul and deep snow slopes, everyone will find their ideal skiing area here.
The free ski bus takes you to the Stubnerkogelbahn cable car in just 5 minutes. A ski bus stop is located approximately 100 meters away. The entrance to the nearest cross-country ski trail is approximately 5 km away and, like all other ski areas in the Gastein Valley, can be reached quickly and easily by ski bus.
Activities away from the slopes and cross-country trails include winter and snowshoe hikes, ice skating rinks, toboggan runs and ski tours.
