The family-run traditional hotel is located in the center of the national park community of Matrei in East Tyrol and therefore in the middle of the Hohe Tauern East Tyrol national park region. Over 150 three-thousanders and the two highest mountains in Austria, the Großglockner at 3,798m and the Großvenediger at 3,674m, are right on your doorstep.
If you like to be on the sunny side of life, then Matrei in East Tyrol is the right place for you. With an area of more than 1,800 square kilometers, the Hohe Tauern National Park is considered Central Europe's largest protected natural area in the Alps. You can start the endless hiking fun right from the hotel. Old and young can choose at their own discretion how steep it can be. Or you can float comfortably up to the majestic peaks by cable car and experience the impressive backdrop of the East Tyrolean mountains at over 3,000 meters above sea level. Fly fishing in East Tyrol stands for limitless nature experiences in the “supreme discipline” of fishing. The high alpine terrain in the Hohe Tauern National Park offers excellent fish stocks, fantastic natural scenery and water in its most diverse forms.

Excellent cuisine is a tradition at the Hotel Rauter. Experience the highest level of gourmet culture as part of the gourmet half board or award-winning cuisine in the à la carte restaurant “Rauter Stube” – awarded 3 toques by Gault&Millau and an absolute highlight for gourmets. Exquisite dishes are prepared here using fresh, regional ingredients of the highest quality. You can feel the proximity of Italy and still remain deeply rooted in the typical Tyrolean culture. A large selection of exquisite wines from Austria, Italy, France and Spain crowns the culinary enjoyment. The elegant ambience and first-class service ensure an entirely enjoyable experience. In the summer months, the heated outdoor pool in the gardens with a large sun deck (July - September) and spacious sunbathing area invites you to relax. The offer is complemented by a comfortable lounge with a reading corner and a view of the pool, a spacious fireplace hall and a separate breakfast room on the 1st floor. A lift, free parking spaces and a charging station for electric cars (chargeable) are available. WiFi is available free of charge.

The 35 modern, spacious rooms have a bathroom with bathtub or shower/toilet, hairdryer, SPA bag with rental bathrobe and towels, telephone, satellite TV with Sky access, safe, minibar and WiFi as well as a desk and a seating area. The interior impresses with warm colors, lots of wood and tasteful details. A pleasant living environment ensures a wonderfully restful sleep.

Meals
Gourmet half board: rich East Tyrolean breakfast with products from the region, in the evening a varied 4 or 5-course menu with a choice of classic East Tyrolean and international starters, salad and soup creations, fine intermediate dishes, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, a fine Selection of cheese and sweet creations. Depending on your mood, you decide the number of courses.
