Description

"World Heritage Natural and Cultural Region": The 2,995 m high Dachstein has been able to adorn itself with this award since 1997, as the impressive mountain landscape was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO a decade ago together with the town of Hallstatt and the Dachstein Salzkammergut region.

Accommodation: Comfortable rooms with shower/toilet, TV and partly Internet/WLAN in 3* hotels or inns as well as overnight stays in the hut in beds or in the dormitory. You have to bring your own sleeping bag. Due to their location, not all cabins can offer running water, hot water or showers. Sometimes there is no flushing water in the toilets. General information
During the tour around the Dachstein you are mostly in high alpine terrain. Appropriate mountain equipment and stamina are therefore a prerequisite. The necessary equipment includes: hiking boots, functional clothing, rucksack, water and food, rain and sun protection, warm clothing - even in midsummer, temperature drops are possible, hat, warm gloves, first aid kit, mobile phone, possibly hiking poles, etc. Your route is immortalized by your entry in every hut book in the Dachstein mountains. The paths are well signposted, but the markings may be hidden due to the remaining snow. Maps and the Dachstein hiking book must therefore be carried with you. Accompaniment by an experienced hiking guide on request!
