Your Hiking Tour
Day 1:
Individual arrival to Schladming
Hike through the Talbachklamm: approx. 5 km, 2 hours, elevation gain/descent: 159 / 159 m
Today you start hiking through the Talbachklamm on the wild water theme trail. Your path takes you past, among other things, the viewing platform for the Talbach and the ruins of the former “Säusenstein” castle. Overnight stay in Schladming
Day 2:
Hike on the Schafsinn circular route on Hauser Kaibling: approx. 6 km, 2-3 hours, elevation gain/descent: 213 / 213 m
You take the hiking bus from Schladming to the valley station of the Tauern cable car, which takes you to the Hauser Kaibling. From here the path leads along carefully re-naturalized slopes, which serve as sheep pastures in summer. In addition to the wonderful view of the entire Ennstal, the hike offers a lot of information about the EU Leader Ennstal-Lamm project based here and, with a bit of luck, you will discover the 800-strong flock of sheep, including a shepherd and dog, which runs from the end of May to the beginning of June go to the alpine pasture.
Or: Hike through the valley of falling waters – 3 lakes tour: approx. 8 km, 4-5 hours, elevation gain/descent: 540 / 540 m
To get to the start of this tour, you use the same hiking bus, just drive a little further. You start hiking shortly before Lake Constance in Styria. As you walk past the lake, you can already enjoy the view of the waterfall below the Hans Wödl Hut. Past this waterfall, you continue up a layered stone staircase to a green hill. Past the Hüttensee, the path continues through bushes and alder bushes first to the Schleierwasserfall and finally to the Obersee. Return journey with the hiking bus. Overnight stay in Schladming.
Day 3:
Glösalm – Bachlalm – Glösalm,: approx. 10 km, 4-5 hours, elevation gain/descent: 548 / 548 m
Today you start by bus to the Glösalm. From here you first hike towards the mighty Dachstein south face. Turning left, we continue along the forest to the unique Bachlalm. The Alm is famous for its marmot colony - with a bit of luck you might be able to pet one of the marmots. Finally, you hike down the valley towards Gasthof Dachsteinruhe before returning to the Glösalm via the Duregg circular path. Overnight stay in Ramsau.
Day 4:
Dachstein glacier adventure day.
After you take the bus to the valley station of the Dachstein cable car, it lifts you with majestic tranquility up to 2700 m above sea level. Discover the Ice Palace 6 m beneath the eternal ice. Venture across the 100m long suspension bridge before entering the stairs to nowhere - 400m above ground. Overnight stay in Ramsau.
Day 5:
Individual departure or extra nights.
General information
The hikes do not present any technical difficulties and are also suitable for beginners, provided they are in good physical condition. Your hiking equipment should include: sturdy shoes, backpack, sun and rain protection, functional clothing.
