Mountainbiking in the Salzkammergut region

The Salzkammergut is one of the most beautiful mountain bike regions in Austria. The unique and varied natural landscape with its breathtaking views, extensive forests, clear mountain streams and lush alpine meadows give you the energy boost you need to master the sporting challenge. The tough climbs are sweetened with wonderful impressions while biking.
Conquer the Salzkammergut between mountain heights and crystal-clear lakes, don't shy away from climbing a meter and reach your destination tired but happy! Please note that the tour is weather dependent.
 
Accommodation: You will be accommodated in inns or hotels of the 3* category or in a 4* hotel in Bad Ischl. The rooms have a bath or shower/toilet and most have a telephone and TV.
Payable on site: local tax. Public car park if you arrive by car.

Tour Description
Day 1:
Individual arrival in Bad Goisern.
You will receive the documents and maps at the accommodation.
Overnight stay in Bad Goisern.
Day 2:
Bad Goisern - Bad Ischl - Strobl
Kaiser tour: approx. 43 km, elevation gain/descent: 1304 / 1231 m
Today's tour leads from Bad Goisern via Wurmstein to the Hotel Predigstuhl, from there over the Ewige Wand to the Reinfalzalm. Via Leckenmoos, Gschwendtalm and Hoisnradalm it goes to Bad Ischl. Continue via the Salzkammergut cycle path to Lake Wolfgangsee in Strobl.
Overnight stay at Lake Wolfgangsee.
Day 3:
Strobl - Bad Ischl / via Schwarzensee, Attersee, Mondsee
Salzkammergut 5 lakes tour: approx. 64 km, elevation gain/descent: 1600 / 1688 m
Today you drive from Strobl via Rußbach to the Schwarzensee, and via the Moosalm to the Attersee. From there the same route goes back to the Moosalm intersection, over the Eisenaueralm to the main road and down to Mondsee. The same road then leads back, via the Scharfling you get back to Lake Wolfgangsee. From St. Gilgen you drive along the lakeshore to Abersee and Strobl, then continue to Bad Ischl.

Day 4:
Bad Ischl - Hallstatt
approx. 43 km, elevation gain/descent: 1239 / 1193 m
Via Perneck, a district of Bad Ischl, you drive towards Heisenradalm and on to Hütteneckalm. You reach the Schwarzenbachloch cave entrance and continue via the Güterweg in Pichlern to the Halleralm. Further over the Salzberg and over Altaussee you reach St. Agatha, a district of Bad Goisern. Along the east bank cycle path you cycle to Obertraun and on to Hallstatt. Overnight stay in Hallstatt.
Day 5:
Hallstatt - Gosau - Bad Goisern
Plassen circuit: approx. 49 km, elevation gain/descent: 1793 / 1820 m
From Hallstatt via Waldbachstrub and Passagealm to the Rossalm. A stop is planned there. Refreshed, we continue over the Löckenmoosberg towards Gosau Vordertal. From there the route leads (near the road) to Gosauzwang, then continues along the road to Bad Goisern.
Overnight stay in Bad Goisern.
Day 6:
Individual departure or additional nights can be booked.
 
General information
The MTB tours are demanding and physical fitness and endurance are therefore a prerequisite. It is also important to have the right equipment such as closed sneakers, backpack, sun and rain protection, functional clothing, jacket and sweater, etc.
