The palaces, castles, museums, monasteries, wildlife parks, caves, lakes, rivers and magnificent landscapes of the states of Salzburg, Upper Austria and Lower Austria are located on the Romantic Road from Salzburg to Vienna.
On the journey from Salzburg to Vienna we repeatedly come across the first travelers on this route. The Romans, for example, who set up camps in some places and gave their names to towns such as Wels or Enns. Benedictines and Augustinians settled in important and prominent places and founded their monasteries there, where they served God and science and expressed their power through magnificent buildings.
Take your time and enjoy the scenic beauty, the numerous castles and palaces, the baroque monasteries and monasteries, most of which are enthroned on rocks.
