The 4-hour salt mine tour from Salzburg takes you along the Alpenstraße along the Königsseeache to the Obersalzberg, where the leaders of the Third Reich once resided.
Then you reach the highlight of the salt mine tour, the salt mine in Berchtesgaden. Here you will learn exciting, informative and legendary things about the world underground as well as everything worth knowing about the indispensable element of life, salt. The salt mine, which is more than 500 years old, awaits you with numerous highlights: After you have put on your protective clothing, the mine train takes you 650 meters into the mountain. First you will see the Salt Cathedral, dedicated to the then Emperor Franz I of Austria. You continue on the first wooden slide, which takes you around 34 meters further down, where you reach the rock salt grotto, which was named after King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Many interesting stations await you here, e.g. B. the salt laboratory, which provide you with exciting insights into the history of salt mining. The end of the tour through the salt mine is an impressive trip across the mirror lake. The lake owes its name to the reflection on the water surface.
After visiting the mine, you have the opportunity to explore the tranquil town of Berchtesgaden on your own before you return to Salzburg. Duration 4 hours.
