Description

The Großglockner High Alpine Road is one of the most fascinating panoramic roads in the world and has been a listed building since 2015. It leads 48 kilometers into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park up to 2,571 meters above sea level, at the foot of Austria's highest mountain and ends at the longest glacier in the Eastern Alps, the Pasterze. At 2,369 meters above sea level, Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe offers a unique view of the slopes and snow fields of the Großglockner (3,798 m) and the surrounding three-thousand meter peaks. On small hikes you can observe marmots and even ibex, chamois or eagles. Numerous thematic trails and exciting exhibitions invite you to an unforgettable nature experience.
