This tour takes you to the picturesque place between Lake Hallstatt and the steep slopes of the Dachstein massif.
The tour starts in Salzburg and takes you directly to Hallstatt. You will pass some picturesque places such as Fuschl, St. Gilgen and Strobl. Located directly on the shore of Lake Hallstatt, Hallstatt not only impresses with its fairytale idyllic atmosphere, but also with a rich history that goes back to prehistoric times. In 1997 the Dachstein – Salzkammergut region around Hallstatt was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
During the 2.5-hour stay, you have the opportunity to explore the picturesque town at your leisure. The narrow streets and rustic houses exude their own flair and allow visitors to experience the magic of Alpine culture up close. The charming little town of Hallstatt is best explored on a stroll. From the jetty you can enjoy a great view of the water, the city and often the swans of Hallstatt. At the end of Seestraße you will reach the marketplace, which is the heart of Hallstatt. Gosaumühlstraße leads from the market square, past the cemetery and church, to the well-known vantage point, which offers a wonderful view of the entire city. The famous ossuary, which was built in the 16th century, is unique in the world. There are now more than 600 skulls and their bones stacked here. Those who prefer a view from above can take the funicular comfortably to the viewing platform "Welterbeblick", 360 meters above the roofs of Hallstatt. The return journey to Salzburg leads via Gosau, Rußbach and Abtenau. Duration approx. 5.5 hours. Entrance fees not included.
