Description
Vienna IX, Berggasse 19. Sigmund Freud lived and worked at this address for 47 years before he had to flee from the National Socialists in 1938. This place is known worldwide as the birthplace of psychoanalysis - it was here that Freud revolutionized the human self-image. Extensively renovated and expanded in 2020, the Sigmund Freud Museum shows all of the family's private rooms as well as Sigmund and Anna Freud's ordinations. Permanent exhibitions on the development of psychoanalysis, the Freud family life and the history of the house allow visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the fin de siècle. A conceptual art collection and changing special exhibitions bring psychoanalysis into context with current issues in society and art.
