This tour of a different kind is probably the most frivolous tour through Vienna. You will learn everything about the history of customs, grave nymphs, brothels, bathhouses and the double standards of then and now. You walk in the footsteps of Josefine Mutzenbacher and get to know the erotic Vienna of the past.
Josefine Mutzenbacher was a Viennese prostitute who is said to have lived from 1852–1904. Her presumably fictional stories about eroticism and love were first printed in 1906. The novel "Josefine Mutzenbacher. The Story of a Viennese Whore" is considered a masterpiece of erotic literature and has been known beyond Austria's borders since it was made into a film in the 1970s.
The Mutzenbacher route takes you to the Griensteidl coffee house, where the book was written. But you also stroll through the streets and places of immoral Vienna such as the former red light district on Spittelberg. How and where Josefine Mutzenbacher found her customers will be explained to you in a cheerful way during the erotic city walk. In this way you will gain an insight into the respective customs of the time and the risks of the profession. Duration: approx. 2 hours. Minimum age 15 years.
