Travel through history, art, culture and nature with the Universalmuseum Joanneum!
The museums of the Universalmuseum Joanneum are among the most popular attractions in Styria!
From May 2024 it will be “20 museums and a zoo”.
With the Erzherzog Johann Museum at Stainz Castle, the Joanneum is being expanded to include another museum. The life and many facets of the founder Archduke Johann are illuminated on an exhibition area of around 530m². Original objects, the representation of ideas, models and institutions, but also the difficulties in his life, trace the myth of this man and offer a new perspective on the 19th century.
Further highlights for 2024
With prominent works, including treasures by Egon Schiele, the Neue Galerie Graz presents the highlights from its outstanding collection. A focus in the coming year will be the topic of work - the Museum of History is taking up the Blaschka photo archive to reflect on the relationship between paid, precarious and unpaid work in the lives of women between 1950 and 1970.
Trautenfels Castle is taking part in the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 with a reference project and is dedicated to socio-political and historical aspects with a focus on the Liezen district. In addition to the special exhibition, a cooperation project with the La Strada festival will be opened at Trautenfels Castle:
